I always get the best waitresses at the Athenian Diner. When [livejournal.com profile] sivet visited early this summer, our server greeted us with, "How are youse tonight? Do youse need a minute to decide?" Neither of us could quite believe it. First time [livejournal.com profile] sivet had been to Connecticut, and the first person she meets besides me says "youse."

Today I went for lunch and was served by a young lady who sounded an awful lot like Patty and Selma. She must have been really pounding the Pall Malls to have ended up with a voice like that by age 30.

Can anyone tell me what this means? I'm stumped.
