Sometimes I really wonder where some of the shit I say comes from. I was on the phone with someone today, and we were talking about Mississippi and Alabama, and she said that she had just been in Huntsville, AL, for several weeks. I said, "Oh, my dad grew up in Huntsville!"

But Dad grew up in Houston, TX. He's been to Huntsville -- his mother's family lived there -- but he never lived there. Why the fuck did I say that? And I wasn't intentionally lying to the woman. When I said it, I thought it was true! It wasn't until I got home a minute ago that I thought, wait a minute -- what in god's name did I say to that woman this morning?

Somebody throw me so o' them smart drugs, cuz I need 'em bad.

Well, Huntsville TX is basically a suburb of Houston. Maybe you mean what you said in spite?

Hmmm, maybe so -- but I think he lived pretty close to downtown. Isn't the state pen in Huntsville? My mom actually lived at the MS penitentiary as a kid (her father was a warden), so maybe all those details bouncing around in my head had something to do with it.
