wickedfleaI still think there's something at play here. I don't know if it's a regional thing or a book-people thing or what, but almost everyone here puts something in coffee. (Milk or sugar or Equal or cream, I mean, not bourbon or anything. But you never know.) And they look at me like I'm crazy when I just grab a cup and start drinking it. "Just BLACK?!" Yes, thank you.
