Dec. 6th, 2001 03:54 pmWow, it feels like I haven't done a damn thing today, though I guess I have. The first thing on my list for this morning is still undone, though, because -- imagine this -- I'm waiting for stuff from other people! What a novel concept.
I went to lunch at Woolsey Hall with some other guys from the office today. Great building, but the food-- well, it was cafeteria food. I've always hated cafeterias. My dad and I for years have had this running thing whereby he calls me weird for hating cafeterias and I scoff at him for eating that crap. He used to like to go to Morrison's cafeterias, and I finally told him I wasn't going to eat there anymore. The ones where you grab your own food are bad enough, but I absolutely refuse to go to those places where they rush you through a line and you have to tell the rude-ass people behind the counter what you want. I never know what I want, because I never know what the fuck any of that shit is.
"Gee, I dunno, gimme a hunk of that brown shit, and about a sack and a half of that green stuff, I guess, and -- Wait, is that Jell-O? Yeah, just let me have a plate full of Jell-O and skip all the rest; at least I recognize that."
And the people in those all-you-can-eat places are always so disgusting. (Well, not so much in school cafeterias.) In the South, we have these places called... what the hell are they... Barnhill's, I think. People take their whole families in there for eight bucks a head or whatever it is, and they THROW DOWN. And all the members of every family are fat as hell, and there are piles of carnage stacked high on every table, and they have to roll the bastards out in wheelbarrows... Oh my god, it's filth, horrible filth.
How do I get started like this? I read back through, and it looks like I'm a total misanthrope, but I'm really not. Not always, anyway.
