So I went ahead and went to the Carson Daly thing, and I'm glad I did. It was pretty fun. I took off from work about 12:30, came home and knocked around for a while, and then drove into the city. I could have taken the train, but I prefer driving for some reason. I was afraid that traffic might be bad, but it really wasn't.

Anyway, I got to the city around 4:30 and parked in a garage so I wouldn't have to get into midtown. I nosed around in a bookstore for a few minutes, bought a book, and got moving. I would have liked to go to Zabar's, but Carson's silly ass probably wouldn't have let me bring my smoked mozzarella and shit up in his crib.

Took the subway over to Rockefeller Center, grabbed a couple of slices at Famiglia, and headed up for the taping. It was very streamlined -- they had people leading us through elevators and hallways and whatnot. It was just this little set and an audience of maybe a hundred people. I'm proud to say that the Mule fans were representin'! *pounds chest* We outnumbered the Buffy fans by 2 to 1. It was kind of cool to get to see Alyson Hannigan -- she was lookin' pretty cute. I had to watch her on the monitor most of the time, though, because the seats weren't on risers and some dude had his big asshead in the way.

The Mule played "Beautifully Broken" with Danny Louis on keys and Stefan Lessard on bass. I hate the Dave Matthews Band, but that Lessard guy is a pretty good bass player. I thought the song was a good choice for TV -- it's sort of a ballad and pretty catchy. It's not the totally balls-out stuff that really typifies the Mule, but it is a good song.

So yeah, I'm really glad I did that. It was a nice little treat for my birthday. And it gets me really amped for the Mule show at the Beacon next week!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, folks! Special kudos to the überfabulous [livejournal.com profile] zoe for sending me a very nice text message on my phone!

What is the deal with me and computers lately? In the last two weeks, hard drives have died at home and at work, I've nearly choked Hans the Friendly Handyman over the crazy department printer, my laptop has died, and now my cable has gone completely out, leaving me with no television (no big loss) or Internet. I just know it's voodoo.

But otherwise I'm doing well. I'm at home in my boxers!

Oh yeah -- the TRL kid said "fucked" before the taping started. Tell all your classmates.

Whoa, the cable guy and fixed me up already. I wonder how I managed that.

I just ran across a listing in the yellow pages for "Jammie the Gentle Clown." Does that sound weird to anyone? That name I mean, not the fact that I happened to be looking in the clown listings.

I just got a care package from my grandmother, including one of her famous pound cakes. She kicks all kind of ass.

Also got an update on my laptop. Evidently it's already repaired and shipped back out today. They replaced the system board, the floppy drive, and the keyboard. I wasn't even having problems with the keyboard, but whatever's cool with me.

Does anyone remember Woot the Wanderer from the Oz books? I think of that every time someone says "woot!" Those books are awesome. I dig the Nome King and Mombi too.

Can you do telemarketing from home? I think I'd like to do that! It would be cool to be on the other side of the line for a while. And I could be rude as fuck to the people I called. "All right, Charlie, you sign up for this shit or I'll come down there and snatch ya baldheaded." What are they gonna do, fire me? Bring it on, buddy, I already got a freakin' job!

Oof. I just saw Don Zimmer in a Preparation H commercial. That I didn't need.

This makes her (?) seem a little less scary. She still needs some consultation on the name, though.

I always laughed at people who were afraid of clowns, but no more. I am goddamn afraid of clowns now. It's just too spooky. I seriously feel like I'm having a flashback. dundundundundundundun

Clowns. CLOWNS! This shit right here just freaked me way the fuck out. Doesn't her icon look like the picture of Jammie? I thought the gentle clown had come to fuck with me when I first saw it!

Man, I'm thirty-one goddamn years old, but this is going to haunt me like childhood trauma. CLOWNS!!!
