Feb. 17th, 2003 03:13 pmSo I checked the university snow page this morning and saw that they had recognized that the weather was "extreme." However, instead of closing everything down, they merely said that supervisors were encouraged to let people go home, but that people would have to take vacation time. Finally at about noon they said that everyone was dismissed. Didn't they read the news yesterday? A blizzard was predicted for today, and guess what? We got a blizzard. So they made people leave home and come in to work only to be sent home during the worst part of the storm. Just think how it'll look if someone gets killed going home. I swear, for some Ivy Leaguers, some o' these bastards sure can get their asses up their heads sideways. Or something like that.
But I didn't have to go to work today anyway, 'cuz the press has a different holiday schedule than the rest of the university, and we have Presidents' Day off! So I'm doing a little early spring cleaning--mostly cleaning and organizing the chaos around my computer desk. Actually, right now I'm taking a break, eating chicken gumbo, and listening to Double Nickels on the Dime. Life is good. Until I have to go to work tomorrow.
