Whew. Back at work, and I wasn't greeted by an angry mob, so it seems that no one noticed I was gone--either that, or I left things in pretty good shape for people to babysit my stuff while I was away. Thank Jebus.

Trip was very nice. I needed it badly. Not much to report on that--just did my usual: sleeping in, knocking around Starkville, and eating all sorts of lethal foods. God bless Waffle House and Dreamland.

Grandmother seems to be kicking along just fine. I always worry about her, but she amazes me by contiuing to do her thing just as she always has. Most active 86-year-old in a wheelchair you'll ever see. She finally released the quilt she's been working on for me for a couple of years. It's so awesome. I'll post a picture when I can.

Dad's still Dad. I do wonder what I'm ever going to do about his living situation; his house is still unlivable, though he continues to live in it. I guess one day there will be some sort of crisis there, but until then I don't really know what to do about it. In the meantime, he seems to be fairly happy somehow.

Was great to see Mom too, of course. Seems weird that I hadn't seen her since Christmas. We were spending a good bit of time together there for a while, and I miss that. We have a good time just bumming around. I did kick her ass two nights straight at Boggle. I was too wise to let her pull out the Scrabble board, though.

I was just telling Mary and Heidi that I had just about every kind of food I was jonesing for on my vacation. Mary asked what what miissing. I said, "Well, I didn't have a chance to get any crawfish, and I really would have liked to." They looked at me like, "Oh my god, it's true--there are people who eat those crawfish things, and one of them is standing right here next to us." Silly yankees. They don't know what they're missin'.

I like Southern girls. I like that they wear T-shirts and shorts to Wal-Mart but still put on makeup and fix their hair. I don't know what else to say about that, but there it is.

I want to go home and sleep. I showed up for work the day following vacation--isn't that enough, for crying out loud? I should be dismissed early. I do have a day to take off for my birthday coming up, so that's nice. You can take it anytime during the month of your birthday. Might take it Friday--dunno yet.

Strike's over!!! I should finally be getting a RAISE on my next paycheck. About freaking time. I've been working here for--wow, I've been working here for two years as of last Wednesday.

So what's going on with you folks?

Did I ever post these pictures? I don't think so. They're from my last trip to the Delta in December of last year. I took a bad angle on the first one, so you can barely read the sign, which reads "Christ Temple" on the left and "Bait Shop" on the right.

Lord have mercy, it has just come up a frogstrangler over here.

Damn, it's going to take me forever to get back out of my Southernisms. It's crazy--I had been in Mississippi no longer than a couple of days before I noticed myself saying things like "don't know nothin'."

Oh yeah, my dad went insane while I was home and bought me a freaking laptop to replace my dead one. He sure has gotten awfully generous in his old age, not that I'm complaining.

My mom washed some of my shirts while I was at her place, and I guess some of Bork's shirts were in with them, 'cuz they came out smelling like his cologne. I can't stand cologne! I don't think he even wears a lot, but I'm just overly sensitive to it, I guess. I always think about George Carlin ragging on guys who wear cologne: "C'mon, guy, ya smell like an anchovy's cunt!"

So, um, yeah--I haven't done much work today. You may have noticed.
