A couple of months ago, I wrote, "Why aren't academics talking more about zombies, huh?"

Color me ignorant. They ARE talking about zombies. I ran across the term "zombie hypothesis" in one of our books today, so of course I went Googling and entered the world of the PHILOSOPHICAL ZOMBIE. Read some of that stuff, mang.

You know, every once in a while, I get a reminder that not everyone uses the word "fuck" as flippantly as I do. I just got a crazed phone call from Molly in acquisitions. She'd sent me some cover copy to proofread attached to an e-mail with the subject: "The sea ends, the river starts, somewhere inside the great, wide, funnel-shaped estuary called the Nore, whose easternmost boundaries we set arbitrarily at Whitestable on the south, and Foulness Point on the north; somewhere within this vast basin at th," so naturally I replied with "What'd you call me, you fuck?" Then she called and was all like, "DUDE, what is UP with your E-MAIL?!?"

*shrug* I thought it was perfectly reasonable.
