Two Word questions for any gurus out there:

1) I often print envelopes through the tools>envelopes and labels thing. But the printer we use for labels is not my default printer. Is there a way to tell MS Word to print on that printer without going though the Windows printer folder and changing my default printer there? It doesn't bring up the usual dialog box after I hit "print"--it just goes straight to the printer. I always forget to change my default printer back, so I end up printing everyday stuff on letterhead.

2) How do I make Office NOT do the funky personalized menus--you know, like if you click on "file," it won't show you all the available options unless you click on the little arrow down at the bottom. This drives me up the wall. It's in Word 2000 (work) and XP (home).

I'm still resenting that I have to use the damn product--I'm so much more used to WordPerfect.

If you click Add to Document, rather than Print, then it will open your envelope in the regular word window and you can select Print from the file menu, then when the printing window pops up, you can select the printer you want from the pull down menu without having to reset your defaults. I love how Microshit makes things so convenient.

If you figure out how to get rid of those stupid arrows - please tell me!!!! I hate them!!!! They're on all my menus and I have no clue how to tell them to fuck off.

under tools -> customize...

in the options tabs, uncheck "menus show recently used commands first."

the end. fuck all customized menus.

Yeah, I got rid of the ones in Office, but I can't figure out how to get the ones from the start menu gone.

This is in XP, so actually I don't know if it's the same for other Windows versions. Right-click on the start button or go to control panel>taskbar and start menu, start menu tab, customize, and uncheck "use personalized menus."
