(no subject)

I miss Sonic as much or more as I miss Waffle House--and that's saying something. I could so go for a Route 44 Coke and a Heath Bar Blast right now. That's all I'd need. And a foot-long coney. And that's it--a Coke, a coney, and a Blast. And some onion rings. And that's it. And the remote control. And this paddle-ball. And that's all I'd need.

Apologies to The Jerk.

I could go for a watermelon slush and a grilled cheese right about now.

Haha, the Sonic out here refused to hire me as a roller waitress because of my tattoos. "Oh,...but you can work in the kitchen." Uh, yeah, in the non air conditioned kitchen in 120 degree heat, no thanks.

Ack, they missed out! You woulda been the hostess with the mostest!

[identity profile] carocrow.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Put chili on that coney and I'm there. Sweet iced tea for me, and don't bogart the onion rings.

I miss Sonic too... it's a damned tease to see commercials for them on cable.

Oh, chili is ON it, baby!

I know! I see those commercials all the time and they always make me want to get right up and head for the nearest one--which, I'm afraid, is in freaking VIRGINIA!

*whimper*

I went over to their site via your link and they have BREAKFAST now... including that most excellent thing, the sausage and pancake thing on a stick... like a breakfast corndog with benefits. They used to sell them in the freezer at Walmart, but I can't get them any more.

Re:

[identity profile] wickedflea.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've never tried their breakfast, but I'll bet it's good! And I remember those sausage/pancake things! Flapsticks, right? HAHA!

[identity profile] dichotomous.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
They serve em at school for breakfast sometimes. Pancake on a stick! Rawk!

Never had the pleasure of eating at a Sonic. But I have eated many pecan waffles at Waffle House. I really love Waffle House.

mmmmmmmmmmmm, pecan waffles . . .

pop quiz: PEE-can or puh-CAHN?

Re: *Homer voice*

[identity profile] cierrablue.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to say puh-CAHN, but I got skooled proper and now I say PEE-can.

Re: *Homer voice*

[identity profile] cierrablue.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It is PEE-can, right?

Re: *Homer voice*

[identity profile] wickedflea.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
NONONONO, you've gone the wrong direction! I'm from pecan country, and it's always puh-CAHN! Someone has led you pitifully astray. =)

OK, OK, I think if you look in the dictionary you'll see both pronunciations. But this is one of those cases where I'M RIGHT and anyone who says differently is WRONG. Pecans are serious business for me. =)

I understand! My mother was right then, she'll be glad to know. She taught me, puh-CAHN. I should've listenend to my mother! So many times I could have avoided peril, had I only listened to deal ol' mom!

OMG I love the Jerk. One of my all time favorite movies..

I miss MIAMI SUBS!!

He hates these CANS!

[identity profile] wickedflea.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
The Jerk rules! God, I haven't seen that in a long time, but I still remember so much stuff from it. Will have to check that out again soon. ;)

[identity profile] sarcasmosis.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
i miss chik-fil-a so much, and almost eighty-seven times as much since our trip to nashville a week+ ago.

[identity profile] wickedflea.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Somehow I was never on the Chik-Fil-A bandwagon. Well, I know why--cuz they didn't have one in my podunk town until about the time I moved from there! (But we had two Sonics, go figure.) I've liked their food when I've had it, though.

[identity profile] sarcasmosis.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
there was one in the mall in springfield that we went to a lot when i was little, and one day it just disappeared. apparently all of them are gone now except in the south.

[identity profile] grrrrrrrrrrrowl.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, they are still in Indiana! I found them as far up as Indianapolis and there are still a few in the Southern Indiana area (my hometown area). Also, I live in NJ now and there are some here. They aren't around as much as they used to be but they are still strong and very much alive. Have you checked to see where the closest one is? I think their website should have a locater on it. *shrug* May you find one near by! Heh.

[identity profile] sarcasmosis.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
oh my god oh my god.

bah the closest one is in racine. i'd go to the one in bloomington, but it is apparently only open to students at the school there.

Find a nice student on the campus and offer them 10 bucks if they get your order for you. ;) It may seem a bit steep but THE CHICKEN IS GOOD, MAN!

How can you not be on the bandwagon...

When they have such unique advertising?

HAHAHA! I remember that! Farker. =)

[identity profile] buscemi.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never been to Sonic, unfortunately. They have one in Orange County, but that's about 2 hours away. Bakersfield has 4! What?!

[identity profile] wickedflea.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
You must try one when you get a chance. I recommend the chili-cheese coney and the jalapeno cheeseburger. And the jalapeno poppers. And the onion rings. And the Frito-chili-pie. And the fried pickles if you get lucky enough to find one that serves them.

So, yes, it's not exactly the healthiest place to eat. But ya gotta go sometime, right? :)

[identity profile] buscemi.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's funny that they list the nutritional information. "Yeah, I'm going on a diet. I think I'll head over to Sonic." Uh huh.

[identity profile] dichotomous.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Route 44 Cherry Lime Slush.

When I was a 3rd shift secretary, a lot of time Sonic was the only thing open. I got to go there a lot. Of course, I had to pick up at least 8 orders when I did. And the slushes always lasted the rest of work time. It was great!

Re:

[identity profile] wickedflea.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooooh, YES! I didn't even think of the slushes! Fresh lime is my favorite, though cherry lime is awesome too.

[identity profile] taffetaroses.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
there is nothing - nothing - that can compare to a sonic breakfast burrito with picante sauce at 6 am.

[identity profile] notmyworld.livejournal.com 2003-07-13 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
and this... this LAMP.

[identity profile] motherevol.livejournal.com 2003-07-14 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, Jesus! It was bad enough I had to listen to my boyfriend talk about his White Castle cravings (it's a Midwest thing) for an hour last night, and now you're talking about Sonic. Oy. *smacks forehead*

Arizona has a Sonic on every damn corner; not to mention a Jack in the Crack, Taco Hell, Del Taco Hell, and the list goes on. It's a fast food paradise here.

If you want, I'll uproot a Sonic and plant it in your backyard. How ya like them Coney dogs?

ps. Damn you. Now I want to go back to Michigan, go to Coney Island and order some chili cheese fries, a Greek salad and a chicken hani. That is the poop, yo. How I miss those restaurants. Wah!
