I've seen this a couple of times online over the last couple of days:
Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteres are at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a tatol mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe.

But dagnabbit, it looks like it's just another one of those silly urban legends that get passed around the 'net; there doesn't seem to have been any such study. The "iprmoetnt" misspelling and "it slef" usage (not to mention the comma splice) shoulda tipped me right off. See here for more info.

Good lord, the more I look at this thing, the more screwed-up it looks. "Rscheearch"? And isn't it U. of Cambridge rather than Cambridge U.? It's so hard to find well-done hoaxes anymore.

fnoldy,
Cihrs
