wickedfleaI had been in the restaurant no more than three minutes when a grizzled trucker type ran up to me and said, "I'd know you anywhere!"
"Um, what? I'm not from around here."
"ALICE COOPER! The musician Alice Cooper! I'd know you anywhere!"
Yep, I said to myself, I'm definitely in a Waffle House in the middle of Virginia.
If I were the quick-thinking type, I'd have signed an autograph for him. Being a dunce, however, I merely blurted, "Holy sheep shit!" I must have discouraged the guy, because he just dejectedly went back to his table in the corner. Damn, man -- I could have made dude's day.
"Um, what? I'm not from around here."
