Ha! I hate so many of those songs!

they forgot "have you ever really loved a woman" from bryan adams and "glory days" from the boss.
I used to work at a place that kept the river on the radio and those two songs never failed to set my teeth on edge.

Ewwwww, I hate those. I have never really understood the Boss. A lot of people like him, but . . .

I have a similar aversion to "Brown Eyed Girl" and "Margaritaville." I worked at a bar & grill where we had a steady stream of acoustic musicians who ALWAYS played those songs. And the drunk-ass sorority/fraternity kids would sing along... AGGGH

Me too, but they got a few that I do like. :)

Same here. The one that makes me vomit the most is "Don't Worry, Be Happy."

"Hey, you just lost your job and now you're living on the street! Don't worry, be happy!"

Uh huh. I bet Reagan liked that song.

"And the drunk-ass sorority/fraternity kids would sing along... AGGGH"

Are these the same kids that sing along to "Redemption Song" while driving around in Volkswagen Jettas?

Nah, I know the ones you're talking about, but these kids weren't even that cool. These were the ones who threw Bud Light cans out the windows of their pickups. :)

A fine list, indeed, except I like the Spin Doctors! And Crash Test Dummies!

But, oh, yeah, the Final Countdown is wretched.

Actually, I'm of the mind that every Bryan Adams song should be on there. LOL

What?? 'We built this City' is a classic and the Huey 'Sports' album is eternal! Some of those songs are still good just because they are funny to listen to. Those were all just pop songs that the writer probably had bumping in his car at one time or another and now feels guilty because he is trying way too hard to keep up with current music trends! BS, I could make a better list than that!

Anything Toby Keith or Celine deserves it though.

I too could come up with MUCH worse.

Whoever came up with that list is not near my age. If they were, they'd have more 70's dreck. Given a few hours and a few hundred mg of Advil, I'd post a list that would make my contemporaries shudder.

And yet, of the list you present:

41. We Didn't Start the Fire ... Billy Joel ... 1989

No, no. Numero Uno.

an old co-worker made the song more tolerable. she told me to replace the word "woman" with "donkey".
it works a lot better.

Ack, I hate the Spin Doctors! But I take particular exception to "Sounds of Silence" and "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da" being included!

Amen. In fact one night my friends and I did a scientific test of what's the worst song ever, and that's the answer we came up with.

16. What's Up? ... 4 Non Blondes ... 1993
35. Shiny Happy People ... R.E.M. ... 1991
42. The Sounds of Silence ... Simon & Garfunkel ... 1965

What the hell kind of smack is this? And why include these when there are obvious things left off... like... "Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro... and... and... "In the Ghetto" by Elvis... and... hmm... well there's not a god damn disco song on the list.
