I always get the best waitresses at the Athenian Diner. When sivet visited early this summer, our server greeted us with, "How are youse tonight? Do youse need a minute to decide?" Neither of us could quite believe it. First time sivet had been to Connecticut, and the first person she meets besides me says "youse."

Today I went for lunch and was served by a young lady who sounded an awful lot like Patty and Selma. She must have been really pounding the Pall Malls to have ended up with a voice like that by age 30.

Can anyone tell me what this means? I'm stumped.

Well, we're not too far away, and we have a lot of Italians, so I guess it's not too surprising. But it was the first time I'd heard it except on TV, so yeah, I was a little shocked. :)

Yep, it's pretty good! They kinda pissed me off today, though--I finished my Pepsi (blech) about halfway through my meal, so I asked for another, which the girl finally brought. Got my check and they'd charged me for two. What ever happened to refills on soda?

I think I commented about this in your post about "regular" coffee at Dunkin' Donuts. Those freaky New Englanders charge you for refills on soft drinks. wtf! Always pissed me off. And where's the ice tea? And charging for chips and salsa? Someone would likely get shot for that in Texas.
