My first thought was, hey, that's not an '81 card! But then I thought, yeah, I guess pictures for '82 cards would have been made in '81. So I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you know your stuff. =)
Once in a blue moon, they go earlier than previous season, but mostly, they go with those shots.
Of course, this is a far cry from when they'd paint portraits of the players (I had Gerry Dvorak, who painted the '53 Topps set, as an art teacher briefly...).
No way! I mean, how many people can really say that their name is "Rusty Kuntz"? It's like Gibby Haynes named him or something. Within that name lies POWER.
There was a teacher at Berklee who wrote a text book that literally all students had to buy at some point. His name was Dick Hymen. He obviously must have done this on purpose. His real name had to be Richard Hymen, but then I guess everyone would have ended up making fun of him anyway. Best to just go with it. But at some point all Berklee students end up walking around with a text book with the author's name emblazoned on the cover in unusually large type for text book "Dick Hymen".

Sort of like that NASCAR driver Dick Trickle. If you can be comfortable, and not to mention famous, with a moniker like that, more POWER to ya!
