Popcorn popped on the stove is infinitely better than microwave popcorn. Microwave popcorn is for pussies.

Foucault can eat me. That's it, eat me.

ManRam had a heckuva first inning. And I think Pedro spanked Larry Walker's ass at home plate. How fresh.

microwave popcorn is just wrong. i make popcorn in my electric wok. it's completely foolproof and always comes out perfectly. the weird thing is that they don't seem to even sell regular popcorn at a lot of stores anymore. damn microwaves.

I know! I was in Stop & Shop the other day and could NOT find any plain popcorn. I was starting to get really freaked out, so I broke down and asked a stocker. Turns out it's in the PRODUCE area. WTF?

Darn it... the past several years I've been a "pussy"! Maybe that is why the cat and I get along so well however. ;-)

I thought I might get a response from you about that. ;)

He might be all well and good, at least from a philosophical perspective. To be completely honest, I never read him, so my objection is not so much to Foucault himself as the people who cite him. Really, as a failed English major, I just resent all the "literary criticism" that reads Foucault, Derrida, Kristeva, and whomever else into anything and everything. It bugs the shit out of me that so many "scholars" want to jump into flavor-of-the-moment readings of literature that aren't necessarily relevant, particularly before they do more basic readings. But, hell, I never finished my M.A., so what the hell do I know?

And no, I have no explanation for what got me on the subject tonight. ;)

here's the thing - there is a whole trend of academic retardation that occurs when people get in the habit of using someone else's published works as a jumping ground for their own thoughts. wanks who can't convey their own ideas without bashing them up against someone noted or prominent in the field of whatever theory are often pretty pointless and generally shouldn't be listened to.

foucault and all them cats did some pretty groundbreaking work, and it saddens me that modern theorists see his stuff as the end-all and not a beginning point. or as a separate point entirely. all this jazz of reading one theorist through the lens of another is just a fancy way of saying, "i'm a lazy schmuchk and a bit of a thinkyfraud. please give me more grant money."

so, i guess i'm with ya. down with foucault!
