woot

Just got tickets in the mail for two nights of the Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon in NYC, March 22 & 23. Yes, that's right, folks -- I can appreciate Slayer, Lubricated Goat, and the ABB, cuz that's just the kinda crazy-go-nutty kinda open-minded kinda silly little renaissance man I am. Deal.

I wanted to get tickets during the pre-order, but I was too poor to. D'oh. Oh well. Check out the GOTV line-up that's on my journal. It's kick ass.

Oh, wow -- I'll definitely want to check out some of that, esp. for Les, Warren, and the Mule. Depending on how crazy-go-nutty I'm feeling, I might even check out Phil again. :))

P.S. -- went I first tried to reply to this, I opened my client and made an entirely separate journal entry. I promise I'm not blonde.

I think it's a law down South that you have to like the Allman Brothers...under penalty of torture.

It's true! Dickey Betts came out to the farm and threatened me in '94, and I've been a fan ever since! I couldn't understand everything he said, but I understood the words "cattle prod," by god.

Good thing you didn't make fun of his name.

speaking of slayer, I think I dig their newer stuff with paul bostaph better than the old stuff (although it was light years ahead of its time); although that may be just production value - and the tightness afforded by more time in the studio. although dave lombardo was/is one hell of a drummer, he just didn't seem to have the jaw-dropping precision that makes the bostaph material so mind-blowing. too bad he's a goner, I will definitely be buying the first album he appeared on, whatever it's called (I checked and made sure they aren't publicly virulent racists, it was just some misunderstanding involving a minor threat cover they did). Basically I have listened to little else aside from those discs you sent me and the one I had already in the last week or two! the only ones I have yet to get the general idea of are the live discs. pretty soon I will be getting a fucking slayer tattoo on my face or something. and YOU'LL be to blame! thanks yet again!
