Senior Year High School Meme

What year was it?
1988-89

What were your three favorite bands or musical artists?
Metallica, Slayer, and the Misfits.

What was your favorite clothes?
Band T-shirts, jeans, and sneakers.

What was up with your hair?
I was well on my way to becoming a serious hair farmer. Actually, when I graduated, it was pretty much a mullet, though that was only on the way to growing it out all over.

Who were your best friends?
Wes, Kelly, Dave, Eric, Grimmett, Fool, and Ted.

Where did you work?
Burger King, boyeeeee.

What did you do after school?
Often went straight to work for a 4-close shift. If nobody had to work, we'd have band practice. Yanno, my band Reign of Terror (ROT)? Yeah.

Did you take the bus?
Oh HELL no. Not since the ninth grade.

Who did you have a crush on?
Holly, the student-body president. But she was all into college guys and stuff. :\

Did you fight with your parents?
Yeah. I was 17--of course I fought with my parents.

Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?
No idea. Wendy O. Williams? No, hahaha, I dunno. Your mom.

Did you smoke cigarettes?
Yeah, not a lot, though. I don't think I'd learned how to inhale properly.

Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack because you were too nervous to find your locker?
I don't get this question. Are people really afraid of their lockers?

Did you have a 'clique'?
I dunno--I guess. We were the smart kids who listened to Metallica and Iron Maiden. We didn't socialize much with the Harley-Davidson kids who listened to AC/DC. We did talk with the smart kids who listened to R.E.M., though we maligned their choice of music. Oops.

Did you have "The Max" like Zach Kelly and Slater?
Nope. A lot of people hung out at Sonic, but we never did. And a lot of kids would hang out in parking lots. I never understood that.

Admit it, were you popular?
Sort of but not really. I wasn't the Mr. All-Everything Homecoming King type, but people generally liked me.

Who did you want to be just like?
Probably like Nicko McBrain or somesing.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Anything that didn't require me to work normal hours. D'oh!

Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
I don't think I thought about it a whole lot. I certainly wasn't taking any steps to prepare for anything.

Very similar senior years we had, you and I. Now that I think of it, I did carry all my books around because I never thought I'd have time to get to my locker and back between classes.

What was up with hanging out in parking lots? In my town, the "cool" kids hung out in the Taco Bell parking lot and the "rednecks" hung out in the Safeway parking lot. My friends and I went to my friend Katie's house and watched CMT and played with potatoes.

I know! I always wondered why those kids didn't do something productive, like find someone's house where they could go drink.

Errrrmmmmm, played with potatoes? Is that some sort of euphemism?

I wish. No, I just remember this one day where we were helping Katie peel potatoes for dinner and started doing weird things with them like putting them in our pants legs and acting like we had goiters. We weren't very popular.

HAW. It's OK--my friends and I used to get big thrills out of using firecrackers to make tomato bombs.

Your friends sound more fun than mine. We did take empty bottles to abandoned parking lots and smash them, though.

Wow. Yer way younger than me, for one thing. For another, you and the B woulda been likethis. For another thing, your responses were almost exactly what I expected. For a last thing, I dig the deepthinking undead.

W00t.

That reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Principal Skinner is looking in all the lockers. He opens Bart's and splat!

"Half a dozen eggs?"
*splat*
"That would be the full dozen. Rather than tempt fate, I'll move on."

I guess if kids are broke and they don't want to go home, a parking lot it is. *shrugs*

I did that on a park tennis court with Grimmett and Fool once. Didn't take long for a cop to show up. :\

Would you have hung out with me in high school?

Heh. I never had eggs in my locker, but I did squash a few behind books on shelves so they'd reek in a few days. Come to think of it, I've no idea where we got those eggs.

interesting
