Yeah, somehow it's weirder to me! Even though Boston hadn't won in all those years, they almost always had a good team--so it was weird to me that they HADN'T won. The White Sox, though--they've always been such a blah, faceless team, and they've rarely made the playoffs, so I never even considered that they COULD win the Series. Good for them, though!
I think a lot of people were like that this year. I watched it all because I have a soft spot for the Astros (well, and I'm a big baseball nerd), but it was a downer after last year.
Ya, they were always Chicago's OTHER team. Being down here in Natchitoches, LA these days, instead of up north in MA, I was kinda pullin' for the Astros.
