FREAK DAY! This may be a record for the latest recognition of a Freak Day. Midnight on the dot! It's been a very scrange but good day. Anyway, I called the folks and let 'em know for sure that I'm headed south. That noise you heard about 2:30 eastern time was probably my grandmother yelling hallelujah. And I'm already in touch with an old friend who's a real-estate agent in Tuscaloosa, and she's gonna help me find a place. Mom said she could even go over and start looking with her. Crazy crazy crazy! My brains be all jumble up, but in a good way for once. ;)

Your grandma loves you!

Oh my GOD, you don't even know. I was driving today and thought I'd really like to stop by Sonic for a Coke and a coney dog, then thought DAMN, I can't because there's not one within 500 miles of here (this happens so often that it's actually quite troubling), and then I thought WAIT, I will be able to soon! And then, with visions of frito chili pies and jalapeno poppers dancing in my head, I laffed in the faces of the pitiful Connecticuteers, who must live out their wretched existences subsisting on crullers from the ever-present Dunkin' Donuts . What a sad, sad lot are they.

I pity the person that does not know the joy of a good hotdog---in our house a hotdog night was a celebration---especially with homemade cole slaw and chili. Damn suckers I tell you.

Dunkin Donuts---for the love of god do they not have Krispy Kreme up there?

Suckers, indeed. I don't trust folks what can't appreciate a hotdog.

Krispy Kreme just started moving into this area a couple of years ago, but they're still pretty few and far between. You would not beLIEVE the number of Dunkin' stores, though. There are FORTY-TWO locations within 10 miles of my apartment. They're more plentiful than gas stations, I think.

Yep, Tuscaloosa, which is right next door--like 50 miles to B'ham.

There's a buttload of Sonics in eastern Tennessee for some reason. (Not that anyone was asking. :P) Anyway, I'm happy for ya, mang. :D Now you can have an honest-to-goodness muffaletta.

There's a SNL skit about that.

Yeah, well, just you imagine subsisting on those crullers, just like a typical Yankee, and then going into WITHDRAWAL out here in Dunkinless Land. O the affliction! O!

Thanks, man! I'll be sure to report on my next muffaletta. :D

Sweet mother of pickle relish! I'm bookmarking it, too. And yeah, I've been to the place in Roanoke!! It were gooood. Never made it to Skeeters, though--three weeks filling in at a fast-food restaurant in Wytheville (on loan from my normal post in Radford) was enough to put me off wanting to be served anything Wytheville had to offer. ;) That was probably the scrangest place I've ever spent any time in.

Wytheville is an odd little town. I used to be part of the Crockett brood that lived in that town, but we left when I was really young and moved to Christiansburg (thank goodness). The strangest thing I remember was the giant pencil on the side of the office supply store.
