Aug. 1st, 2006 09:08 pmSaw Clerks II tonight. I thought it was decent, which I was pleasantly surprised at because I was prepared to hate it. I just have never thought that much of Kevin Smith. I did like the first Clerks, but when dude tries to get topical or plot-driven, he just sucks. And he's wayyyyy too full of himself. But this was decent--it did make me laugh quite a bit, so I tolerated the plot and the schmaltziness.
And it featured the music of the one and only KING FUCKING DIAMOND, and you can't beat that with a stick.
Lonzie scolded me for coming home late. :(

Date: 2006-08-02 11:34 pm (UTC)I didn't hate Clerks II, but I thought he put in too many sell-out moments. The love crap and the dance scene were not very good. The cameos were not so great. He apparently failed to get Matt Damon in on it and I really wish he hadn't bothered with the other has-been. He didn't capitalize on Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee's present jobs. There was a mild hint of fraud througout the whole thing. But, I did have a laugh. I think Dogma's still his best effort with a large-ish budget, but just about anything's better than Jersey Girl.
