So fucked up. And when I saw the article's mention of the couple's "becoming feature fodder for the swarm of national media eager to profile post-flood diehards" in the days after Katrina, I wondered if they were the couple I'd seen pictures of in the New York Times last year. Sure enough. For some reason, that first picture really stuck with me. Gah.

I know, so crazy. :( And I hear that suicide, depression, etc., is way up in the city since Katrina, and they don't have enough professionals to treat people. Obviously most people still aren't hacking up their girlfriends, but still. It's all so sad.

They lived 2 blocks away from my friend Cat, and Zachary was her grocery delivery boy. Yes, the guy who strangled and cooked his girlfriend also delivered groceries to my friend on a regular basis.
