BellSouth DSL support is fun. You spend 45 minutes on the phone with them, run tests, restart everything in sight, and at the end of the process they're finally able to re-state the problem you're having exactly as you presented it in the first place.

Did you know Patteson once had dinner with MLK? It was a small fundraiser in CT after he just moved there for his undergrad college. He said it was about 50 people and MLK visited every table and shook hands and spoke.

That's your Patteson fact of the day.

And I know all about Bellsouth.

Oh wow, I never knew that! Pretty flippin' cool.

Ugh, I remember your Bellsouth saga. Fucking people got corncobs in their ears or something.

Last time I had to call BellSouth about my DSL, I got someone with a heavy Indian accent I could barely understand, and they kept insisting the problem was the phone wiring in my house. A technician came out the next day, and traced my signal drops to the big tan box up the road...

I think you'd be better off with two tin cans and a piece of string. ;)

Yeah, I was afraid they were going to try that wiring thing with me. I ordered a speed upgrade, and it hasn't gone through--my speeds are exactly the same, and the static IP I asked for hasn't taken yet. So obviously it's some switch that hasn't been thrown on their end, but I had a hell of a time getting anyone to acknowledge that. Feckin' people!

Oh man, I've seen that stuff before! There's some guy who does all these weird photoshops that morph two animals into another, like cat squirrels and pelican snakes. Fricky!
