Somehow I managed to sleep away most of the weekend and not feel like I wasted the whole thing. This is good. And I have coffee. This is better.

I didn't watch the Oscars last night. Well, yeah I did, a bit of them. But I missed all the big awards. I saw that Alan Arkin won, which I was pleased about, although I really wanted Jackie Earle Motherfucking Haley to win. Oh well. At least the nomination should get Jackie Earle some more work, and that's good enough for me.

Good to see that Scorsese won, but I haven't seen the movie, so I have no idea how good it was.

And how is it that I saw 20+ movies last year and still hadn't seen most of the nominated movies? And it wasn't like I was seeing a bunch of crap, either.

I thought it was kind of funny how much of a platform they gave Al Gore. I could just see the whole right wing jumping up and down about the liberal Hollywood elite. And really they'd probably have a point, but fuck 'em.

I'm not sure what I think about Gore running this time. If he stays away from Joe Lieberman and doesn't get back on the "clean up Hollywood" trip he got on in 2000, then maybe. I actually voted for Nader in 2000 because Gore/Lieberman made me so sick. I dunno. For some reason I'm liking Hillary Clinton less and less, and I've always said she shouldn't run because she's unelectable. Obama? I'd like to like him, but honestly I haven't done the research. I want James Carville to run with Billy Bob Thornton as his running mate. I've been saying that for years, but no one will listen to reason.

I know how you feel about the Gore thing. I adore his environmental work, but asldkfjasdklfjsdf, you know?

And in an unprecedented turn of events, I find myself leaning heavily toward Giuliani. A Republican. THE SCOURGE OF HUMANITY. Damn it all to heck.

Billy Bob for vice pres... hehehe... I think the vials of blood around his neck will screw his chances... let's face it, Clinton almost got impeached due to a white stain, let alone a thimble full of blood :D
I do not know who to like this time around. I do not think it will be Hilary. I think she only wants the titles and is not concerned with the job.

Grack!!! I don't dislike Rudy, but man, I couldn't do it. But his getting elected wouldn't kill me like the last six years have.

he's [giuliani] done so much for NYC.. if you've been there before and after his reign, you can definitely tell the difference. I like the fact he knows how to react to other cultures and countrymen... something Bush lacked to a tragic end.

Hahaha, true--people get nervous about those bodily fluids. =)

I'm starting to think that about Hillary, too. I dunno. So many people just absolutely hate her that I think it'd be a bad mistake for the Democrats to nominate her.

How about John McCain?

Ehhhhhh, he's someone I respect and could probably live with, but I doubt I'd vote for him.

I know, man. I just can't stand Hilary Clinton, and that Obama guy has even less experience with real decision-making than GWB had when he morphed into the Oval Office. I'm hoping the election is still far enough away that somebody will change my mind and I won't have to vote Republican. It makes me ill just to type those words.

I think that's the thing. I mean, he's from a huge city where he has to deal with reality every day. He doesn't hide on a ranch drinking bourbon and cutting down trees and then try to make decisions based on his warped view of America. And he's pretty damn liberal for a Republican. But he's still Republican and that's something I just can't get past.

I'm non-partisan myself, but I always lean more toward the liberal side when it comes to dealing with the world... that seems to have gotten us far in the past... until the Bush horror. But I am a fiscal conservative (definitely not morally conservative... muahahaha) :D

Man keeps doing backflips on long-held positions. I'm starting to roll my eyes whenever he appears on screen. :sigh:

I'd show up just for the barbeque.
