I was dismayed to learn upon visiting Morningside Heights yesterday that The West End has closed and reopened as a Cuban restaurant. Kerouac and Ginsberg drank there! I had drinks with Christopher Hitchens there before he became a right-winger! How can you change that???

Yep! You probably remember his talking about how kids called it "White Harlem" because "Morningside Heights" sounded so faggy. (And it is right up there by Harlem.)
