WTF. I didn't see that when I was in New York. All that I got was when a homesless man asked me for some change I said NO & he said "FINE THEN I AM GONNA DIE BECAUSE YOU DECIDED NOT TO GIVE ME MONEY"

Being that its fall, and a lot of cultures celebrate some sort of "ancestral" day in the fall, I'm going to guess that maybe this is some sort of ritual to remember that we carry our ancestors with us. Or maybe she is symbolizing assisting a person (relative or not) with his/her crossing to the other side (the idea for that came based on a ritual I saw of the same nature where the participants mimed carrying the dead on their backs). Or maybe she was just nuts. But now that you're telling me the guy in the first photo was an onlooker it makes more sense since I don't have to work him into the equation.

it looks like the black spandex michelin man suit dude is like... an updated version of the grim reaper... like a 21st century reaper... and skeletons are so passe.... so he threw his old one out like *THWAP* funk dat... but in throwing it it hit the chick in the white dress and she spun around with the impact and did a faceplant. so ... when she finally came to she had a head injury and was all confused like.. wha whaaa...?? where's my backpack?? oh my backpack there you are!! and things will never be the same.

sorry the best i could do.

Japanese death ritual of some kind.

Witnessed by Shadow Man, a Dark Horse Comics antihero.

Will soon be sold as a limited edition set of graphic novels.

I don't need my world to be like that... the inside of my head is like that.

You gots to know where to go! It helps if you're a freak magnet like me. :D

I dunno what in the ever-lovin' dogfuck it was! There were some people around from Amnesty International, and at first I thought she was with them, but then she just wandered off away from the park, so . . .

I almost didn't take my camera when I went out today, but something told me I might want it. :)

Breakdancing with a skeleton? I saw someone in a costume similar to the first picture around here. The costume was blue, and the head was much bigger. Apparently they couldn't see, because there was someone on either side holding each hand. All three of them were just walking down the street like nothing was wrong. I didn't have my camera, unfortunately.

I am amused by the notion of seeing an Asian doing something weird and automatically making room for cultural rituals. Reminds me of that joke: "What do you say to a black man riding a bicycle?" (Not gonna deliver the punchline 'cause it's racist.)

Though the death motif is sound, given that in most Asian cultures white is the color of mourning.

My guess is performance art. Most performance art appears pointless and even stupid and annoying at first glance. This is because performance art is pointless, stupid and annoying. It is one rung up the intellectual ladder from elephants, apes and cats that can paint.

Yeah, it had to be performance art. I don't know what kind of reaction she was looking for, but all people were doing was looking at her like, WTF with THIS crasy hore? One of the best parts was when she passed by the black radicals preaching about the evils of Zionism or whatever they were on about. "Look at that crazy woman! More insanity and evil."

Nation of Islam, hehe. I'd end up insane if I lived in NYC. Too many people live there that I have always wanted to kick 'squah in the nuts'. I almost did move there once. I got various people up there - but I never did go for it.

Oh man, you'd last about a second and a half in Union Square before you got into it with someone. :D
