GHOSTS ALL UP IN IT. Tom's Restaurant, Morningside Heights.

How cute is she, grading her community college psychology papers?

Earth to C.C.: the '80s are over.

Morningside Heights reminds me of George Carlin. :)

It probably takes that guy two hours each morning just to work on his hair. ;)

Oh man! I was sitting at the counter in Tom's today and felt George's presence! There was an old man next to me ordering a bagel--thin, crusty, with an Irish NYC voice straight from the routine from Class Clown or whichever album it was where he talks about the voices from the neighborhood. I kinda wondered if it was George's older brother, who, last I heard, was still kicking.

I *heart* the 80's photos! I admire your natural ability to find these. I'm trying to imagine the amount of work it takes to create that look.

1) that store! one day, it was raining and i had no money and i was having a terrible day and my parents forgot to pick me up at the subway near there - and i gave my sob story to the cashier and she made me a delicious bagel and gave me a big cup of coffee for free. only a run on sentence can explain my love for that place. havent been back since, but i recognize it immediately.

2) the 80s are NEVER over at st marks. interesting article in ny magazine (i think it was) about the kids of st marks place...aha, here it is! enjoy :D

Oh awesome, thanks for that link! Those St. Mark's kids have always reminded me of the gutterpunks in the French Quarter--and sure enough, they mention New Orleans as one of the other cities that attracts the same crowd.
