heller's miscellany
May. 7th, 2002 05:01 pmWe in the office have decided that we're going to purchase a honkey donkey. We figure we can use him to do chores, like picking up the mail or bringing up boxes of paper from the basement. Of course, we'll have to brand the bastard with a big-ass Yale University Press logo; otherwise, the occupants of nearby buildings will try to steal our honkey donkey, for of course they covet their neighbor's ass.
I have an interview Friday for the job in manuscript editorial. It looks like they want to hire someone soon, which is good, because I hate this limbo feeling -- not knowing if I'm staying or going. Reminds me of the few weeks last summer when I was looking for a job, though of course this isn't as bad because I already have a job, and it's not like I have to move cross-country again. But still.
Now Dianne and I are trading snide emails about the art editor, who is holding court in our midst. Pretentious ass.
Thursday night, several of us from the press are going to Shea to see the Mets and Giants. I sort of wish it were happening some other time.
I like the Soundgarden song "Circle of Power." Remember that tune? "Ol' big bad ass circle of power's comin' to getcha!"
Oh, I gotta remember to schedule a proofreading test at human resources.

>>I have a feeling it won't be too hard. Maybe it's like that "Draw this turtle and go to art school" pamphlet. Heh.

Yeah, me neither, but there's a good reason -- turns out it's bassist Hiro Yamamoto singing! (Screaming, howling, whatever.)

>>They'll probably cover grammatical errors too, I'm guessing.

>>Ha. I forgot about that. I should really read the liner notes more often.
