Jun. 10th, 2002 06:27 pmBoy, I'm glad to be home. I'm starting to realize that I've been thinking about what's happening at work lately all wrong. I've been thinking that we've been having an inordinate number of Freak Days, but I'm starting to think that perhaps we've gone beyond a mere cluster of Freak Days. We may have entered something larger -- perhaps a Freak Age.
Four more days of double duty, and then I can settle down somewhat. All I have time to do right now is get the rush projects off my desk just in time to get another round. Four more days.
--------------------------
I talked with Dad yesterday, and he's planning to come up at the end of next week. His method of getting up here is kind of strange; I won't get into it here, but suffice it to say that he is, in the words of my Grandmother, "a Bob in this world." (Dad's name is Bob. Whenever Grandmother is commenting on a person's peculiar behavior -- something that makes him uniquely him -- she'll say, "He's a Fred in this world." (Or Dan, or Hortense Louise, or whatever the name may be.))
Anyway, so he'll stay until I start my vacation -- probably the next Thursday -- and go back south with me. I'm really looking forward to having some time off. I'm still wrapping my brain around this concept of a schedule that doesn't work on semesters. I don't miss that end-of-the-semester rush of papers and finals, but I long for that feeling of being done in December and May. (And of course, the intervening rest periods.)

Date: 2002-06-10 05:10 pm (UTC)I know what you mean about the semesters. I'll go to work some days during the summer and get pissed off at some kids riding their bikes. If I have to work, they should be in school working too.
