(no subject)

I'm jonesing for homemade pecan pie. Last week, I thawed one that had been in the freezer since Christmas. (Brought it back from Mom's.) I was afraid that it was going to have freezer burn, but it had nothing of the sort. That was the best freakin' pecan pie I think I've ever had. I don't usually crave sweets, but I could really go for another piece of that.

mmmm, yeah. And I miss Sonny's Barbecue and Oby's. I never knew Starkville cuisine would have such a hold on me.

No kidding. I took it for granted when I was there. Bulldog Deli is the main one I miss though. When I got back, that'll be the first place I go.

My stepfather had a pecan orchard in Natchitoches, and my stepsister's husband made the best pecan pie I've ever had. Stepfather passed away a couple of years ago, and as much as I miss him, I think I'm going to miss the pecan pie even more.
