It's weird -- on the whole, I'm quite happy and relaxed lately, but the minute I get in the car I become a seething nutcase. It's these people and these roads around here. They're crazy. I'm a fairly aggressive driver, but I don't expect people just to stop and let me go in front of them whenever I want to. Also, I'm still not used to these two-lane roads that people drive on like they're four-lane. There'll be just enough room for two cars side by side (but there's no lane divider), and these jokers will get right out there next to you. Then all of a sudden the road narrows or there are cars parked on the side and everyone has to get back single-file. That happened today on State Street. Some fucker was on my right and tried to dart in front of me all of a sudden. So I just got right on the bumper of the car in front of me and wouldn't let him in. Let that fool get behind me, right? So we get to a stop light and the guy starts yelling out his window at me. I rolled mine down and asked him what his problem was, and he started saying that I had cut him off. I said, "nonsense." No -- the precise word I used was "horseshit." Then he kept babbling and I cut him off: "Listen, idiot -- I was driving on this side behind this car for the past mile. Now go the fuck home, motherfucker." As I was yelling at the guy, I was thinking, wow -- this is out of character. Usually I only curse like that at people I've known a long time, like family members.

And then, I calmly and adeptly parallel parked on the street and went over to meet some cats. I've found one that I want. There are two or three that I'm interested in, but my top choice is a guy -- which is good because I still haven't thought of any good female names. (He actually has a pretty good name already -- Simon. But I'll probably make that a middle name or something and call him by Lonzie or Levon or Abdural or whatever I decide on.) They make you wait at least a day from the time you first come in -- I guess so people don't make spur-of-the-moment decisions and go home with a cats that they don't truly need or want. Plus, I have to get a permission form signed by my landlord. But the wheels are turning. If everything goes as planned I'll have a new homie by Tuesday night.

Now I'm gonna go buy a Glock and take an afternoon drive.

Sounds LA driving to me. Around here, people (driving SUVs mostly) can't wait 5 seconds for the car in front of them to turn left. I've seen more near-accidents than I can count.

I'm trying to break that habit myself. But really, I'm allowed to do it--it's all those other fools who are the problem! ;)
