OK, once more about the clown thing and I'll shut up, I swear.

Did you ever have one of those funky coincidences where you're so freaked out that you clap your hands to the side of your head and scream "gahhhhh!"? It was like that. Let me give you a hypothetical example to illustrate what I'm talking about.

You and a friend are up late at night watching movies -- let's say, oh, River's Edge, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Blue Velvet, and Easy Rider. You might even be smoking some reefer or dropping some tabs, but that's up to you; I don't know you and your friend that well. All through the night, you are commenting on how great Dennis Hopper is in each movie. You even see parallels between his characters, such as Feck and Frank Booth. By the end of the night, you both have decided that Dennis Hopper is in fact the key to the universe.

The phone rings at 2 a.m. You pick it up.

"Hello?"

"Hi, this is Dennis Hopper. I live upstairs. Could you and your friend bring me up a sixer of Pabst Blue Ribbon? I can't leave the house, you know."

"GAHHHHHHHH!"

"Hahahaha, I really got you, didn't I? Hey, it's me, Dave! What are you guys up to?"

Even after you realize that it's just Dave, you're still freaked out. Like how did Dave know?!?

It was like that. Just look at these pictures, man! For about a second and a half I thought Jammie had a LiveJournal, had found my post, and was giving me shit. And even after I figured out what was happening, I was still scared like a little schoolchild.

"Gentle clown," my ass.

that settles it. I'm buying you "IT" and making you watch it repeatedly until you are no longer frightened to the core.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! The thought of watching even Shakes the Clown chills me to the bone. I'll no longer be able to watch any number of things: Killer Klowns from Outer Space; that movie where Bill Murray, Geena Davis, and Randy Quaid play bank robbers; "Krusty's Funhouse." I won't even be able to watch "Seinfeld" for fear that they'll show the "Eric the Clown" episode! What about my Bozo box set? And what of my precious memories of being Stinky and Sticky's bodyguard for Halloween? Soured, my friend, soured. No, no, it's all downhere from here on out -- my home will be a Clown-Free Zone for the foreseeable future. And Ronald McDonald can go straight to fuckin' hell. I never liked that freak anyway. And what's up with Grimac -- what the hell IS that thing, anyway, some kind of walrus or upright whale? And the freaking Hamburglar, for crying out loud?!! Man, and you thought I needed therapy before. I'm headed straight for the banana barn now. I just hope we don't take a field trip to the circus.

quick change is the robber movie.
you know, 'cause i'm on the ball and all.

clowns have always creeped me out. i've never had someone understand why after i explained it, so i'll try again:

just what are clowns supposed to be? i mean, what are they? does that make sense? all other creatures have some kind of a genesis story. like vampires were once normal guys who got bitten in the neck by a vampire and changed. are we to believe that clowns are born with big shoes and makeup? it's like a character with no story and it disturbs me to no end.
please tell me that makes sense.

my fear began, i think, around age four when an aunt told me of a dream she had as a little girl. a bunch of clowns were in her bedroom closet. they opened the door and sang "happy birthday" to her in slow motion. then closed the door, opened it again, and did the song in fast-forward. then slow, regular speed, and so on.
it's just a creepy image.

oh, that and poltergeist.

No shit! I bet that dude hides out in the woods and scares the mess out of people.

I went to high school with a guy named Leatherface. Well, I don't guess that was his NAME, but that's what we called him. :)
