I'm so goddamned tired of these "The Antidrug" commercials. You know, like the one that says, "This is the family who was shot for getting in the way of the cartel leader who hired the smuggler who got the pot to the dealer who sold the joint to Dan" and implies that Dan is in some way responsible for the killings. Um, hello? And what about the stupid fucking drug laws that CRIMINALIZE Dan for smoking a JOINT and CREATE the black market for a plant that grows naturally all over the world, for crying out loud?

Propaganda is ass.

Legalize it.

Yeah, they are, and that is fucked up. It's fucked up that we have created a system that criminalizes the smoking of a plant that is a whole lot less harmful than legal drugs such as alcohol. I'm not going to sit here and say that marijuana is harmless or that it can't be abused, but I will say that it wreaks nowhere near as much havoc as alcohol. And I will say that the urge to get high is a pretty basic human need. We like to feel good. We like to be able to come home and have a little something-something to relax. And I think it's pretty fucked up that we've said that the only legal way to get a little high is to drink. Alcohol affects just about every organ of the body that you can think of, and it ain't in a good way. Marijuana's effects are much less severe. So for me, yeah, the commercial works in a weird way--it points out that we've got this incredibly fucked-up system that really does link the urge to get high with people dying. We need to fix the system, because we CAN'T eliminate the urge.

Sorry, that's one of my very few hot-button issues. I still love you, my little dangerpest. ;]
