Aug. 25th, 2002 06:48 pmThere's a person on the Gov't Mule listserv whose name is Missy Toothman. That name tickles the shit out of me every time I see it.
On the same list is Harry Myers from Harperville, MS, who doesn't know the difference between an apostrophe and a comma. He gets drunk and makes posts that look like transcriptions of that Boomhauer character from King of the Hill. Sample sentence: "shit, i,m gonna check out some nekkid chicks.and i,ll play the Mule while i,m a lookin." Anyway, the other night Harry made the following post:
I love Harry.
Speaking of Gov't Mule, I'll be seeing them at the Beacon in NYC on Oct. 11 w/ bassist George Porter, Jr., from the Meters. Rawk.
Have I ever told you folks about my disdain for the term "the American people"? I can't stand it. Politicians always talk about what the American people want or what the American people need -- as if that means a damned thing. Two hundred and eighty million people in this country, and I'm supposed to believe that all of them have the same wants and needs? Horseshit. And I resent being lumped in with everyone else under this "American people" umbrella. Hey, I'm not with these bastards; I just live here.
That's the kind of thing that keeps me from watching the news.
