I'm not exactly looking forward to my second Connecticut winter -- which I expect will be harsh since last year's was pretty mild (so they tell me) -- but the rest of the year makes it just about worth it. It's STUNNING today. And it got down to about 45 last night. Perfect sleeping weather -- I finally got the windows unstuck and kept 'em open all night. That's the best thing about cold weather: I like a cold room for sleeping.

I actually got paid for my last freelance gig already! That rules so much. I wasn't expecting to see a check for weeks. Now I can pay my overdue cable bill and register my car. I don't really want to do either of those things, but there you go. Just another case of The Man tryin' to keep me down.

Y'all probably don't believe this, but I'm currently finalizing cohabitation arrangements. She will become my Sugar Mama, and I will be her Kept Man (or Slave; we actually haven't discussed terminology). It's gonna kick so much ass. The only catch is that it's not going to happen for a couple of years. I just hope she doesn't forget who I am in all that time. And there is a slight immigration problem, but we think we can get around that by marriage or some other nefarious scheme.

There's a woman here who I think applies eye makeup on Saturday and doesn't take it off for the rest of the week. She got some raccoon eyes, yo. She scares me. She also got some man ass, but I'm not going to mention that. I have couth.

Oh, and I found some old SIMMs (RAM) in some of my random computer parts, so I brought them to work and threw them in this machine. That doubled the memory, so I'm now at a whopping 64mb. At least it pepped it up a little bit -- and it hasn't even crashed toda

I'm still thinking about pet names. I know that it's premature to think about names before I actually get a cat. I'll probably have to match the name to the cat's . . . um . . . personality. But anyway. All the names I've come up with so far are for males. I just can't seem to come up with any good female names. At first I was thinking of Levon, and then I considered Dewayne and Damone, but now I'm thinking about the names of some of my co-workers over the years. There have been some incredibly good ones.

What about Don? Has anyone ever named a cat Don? How about Ernie?

I also thought about going the literary route, but I probably couldn't go through with naming a cat Ignatius or Hazel Motes.

This is a good time for a poll. I'll stick to male names for now and give some more thought to female ones.

[Poll #60012]

And yes, I really worked with people named Wackel, Lonzie, and Abdural.
