Sep. 23rd, 2002 11:26 amHoly sheep shit. I just scored a ticket to see Gov't Mule on Last Call with Carson Daly on Oct. 1 (my birthday). I've never seen that show--how many songs do the musical guests play, just one? And the other guest is Allyson Hannigan--is she the flute girl from American Pie? And do you think I'll be able to smuggle in a pie to hit that Daly guy in the face with?

Sep. 23rd, 2002 02:58 pmThe guy who I always get whenever I report a computer problem (which is very seldom; I usually deal with it myself) is a total idiot. Worse, he's a total idiot who thinks that everyone ELSE is a total idiot. And he's almost deaf (seriously), so that doesn't help matters at all. I'm telling the guy, listen, my hard drive is dying. It keeps cutting off and spinning back up again, and I know that sound. It's dying. He's like, "Oh, no, you can't tell by the sound of it." Yeah, YOU can't, because you're fucking deaf! Cripes.

Sep. 23rd, 2002 04:39 pmSo whaddya think happened to my hard drive about forty-five minutes ago? Yep, you got it. Not two hours after "Oh no, you can't tell by the sound of it." Now the computer won't even boot--it tells me to run command.com and do a scanreg because of a registry/configuration error, but it never gives me a c:\ prompt. Thank dog I had the good sense to back up my shit. (Ugh, that sounds bad.) I'm hoping against hope that they'll give me a new machine, but I'm sure they'll just throw another ten-year-old hard drive in it. I knew I should have fried the BIOS.

Sep. 23rd, 2002 08:57 pmAm I wrong for being a little annoyed at the coverage of the mother who was videotaped hitting her child? I mean, YES, it's terrible, and YES, she should go down for it, but the feeding frenzy is a little disturbing. Why don't people make a big deal out of other child abuse cases? Sadly, they happen all the time, but they're not big news. But because this one was caught Live on Tape, people are going apeshit. It's just indicative of how our country is -- we're going to ignore something until you put it right up there on the screen in front of us, and then we're going to act like it's the only time it's ever happened.
