May. 3rd, 2004 08:34 pmI dropped Mom off at LaGuardia Saturday afternoon after a very nice visit. Was really great to have her here. Beforehand I wasn't quiiiite sure how well two weeks was gonna work, but I shouldn't have worried. We had lots of fun and I reclaimed my Boggle throne, so it's all good.
I think I ate too much good food (esp. raw oysters) while she was here--I'm getting a flare-up of gout in my big toe. Yes, I get the gout. I blame the old man for giving me these genes. Haven't had it in a long time, so I guess I'm due. Serious bummer. If you hear someone screaming in pain in a day or two, that's me after letting the bedsheet hit my toe.
Good lord, this is really funny: a
pro_gout community.
I still had most of the day in front of me after dropping Mom off, so I knocked around in the city and spent money I really didn't have. Went up by Columbia and ate at the pizza joint I used to frequent, walked around campus a bit, and stopped in at the record store. And what did I find but Britney, Baby, One More Time on DVD?!? For joy! Anything with Mark Borchardt and/or Mike Schank and I'm there, dude. To be truthful, though, I was pretty disappointed. To paraphrase Mark himself, the acting is stillted and the dialogue would make the pope weep. It's quite bad, actually. I hope there's not an American Movie curse, though it's quite possible, as director Chris Smith's followup, Home Movie, sucks dick too. And I wasn't too crazy about Storytelling, which featured Mike Schank in a small role. Oh well.

I'm having a really hard time with stuff like two/too/to and their/they're lately. When I used "too" above, I actually had down "twoo" for a brief moment. I had a bad run of this some time back. I can't figure it out why it's happening--I'm not even taking goofballs or anything. Maybe I'm just getting stupider. :\
