[livejournal.com profile] buscemi rules!!! He sent me a Fat Albert DVD as a Christmas present! I can't wait to get home and check it out. I haven't seen that show in YEARS! I would do the thing the gang always did where they got together and moved their arms out in all directions, but it's not really a solo kind of act. Anyway, thanks dude--as [livejournal.com profile] jetgirl23 says, you're a good egg!!!

Holiday tidings also came from [livejournal.com profile] goatsupreme, who sent me VCDs of all the Young Ones episodes! I'm gonna marry you, woman. I'm gonna marry you a WHOLE lot. :)

Thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] zoe (again) for the awesome fudge, and [livejournal.com profile] mip1979 and [livejournal.com profile] bohunk for the cool cards! I hope I'm not forgetting anyone.

All of this really makes me feel like an ass for not coming through and sending out cards--but now that I have more of your addresses, I'll probably be sending youse guys nutty little packages when you least expect it. :)

So I got back in town a couple of days ago. I wussed out on going to NYC for the Mule show--I was just too wrecked from driving 300 miles one night and 900 the next day. I just didn't feel like braving the rain, the crowds, and the gangs of marauding terrorists. And I'm a wuss. I'm bummed that I missed the chance to meet [livejournal.com profile] invisibleflair at the show, but we'll meet up at another one, I'm sure!

Fun time in Mississippi, but it was way too short. Those lazy days of loafing around the house sure can go quickly. I'm glad we took one day to go to the Delta. Mostly we just drove around and looked at the little towns that she grew up in and around--Drew, Tutwiler, Moorhead, etc. Drove by Parchman penitentiary, which was another place she grew up. I dunno if I've mentioned that. She did time as a toddler for forging checks down at the five and dime. Wait, scratch that--that was me. OK, actually, Mom's father worked at the prison for a couple of stints, and the family lived there on the grounds. She should totally write a book about that. We also visited the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale and went to Greenville and scored some hot tamales, which are (strangely enough) a tradition in the Delta.

Pop was sick the whole time I was there, so I hardly got to see him. It sounds like he's coming out from under it, though. I was worried about him there for a while, but he kept saying he didn't think he needed to go to the doctor. Anyway, I'll try to get him to come up to see me sometime soon, since we didn't spend much time together.

As planned, I brought home a carful of unhealthy stuff--cigarettes, barbecue, and boudin (cajun sausage). I forgot goatsupremeDas Goat's pork rinds and spittoon, though! She'll never forgive me.

Speaking of my car, the stupid "check engine" light was on for most of the trip. The oxygen sensor is bad, but it ran fine. The freaking part is $230. I think I'll try to pick one up at a junkyard.

Parsnippany, NJ, has the most fucked-up road signs on earth.

Man I'm glad that this Monday is a Thursday, if you know what I mean.

A little while ago, I was thinking, "Hey, I think I'll go to this restaurant by the beach. Oh, wait. They're closed on Mondays. (pause) Um, today's Thursday." Hee.

I had a feeling you'd like that DVD. I just hope you don't start getting a bunch of junk mail from Time Life. :) Do you remember those science books they used to publish? I loved those things in grade school. Granted, I couldn't understand a lot of the words, but that didn't bother me.
