Jan. 22nd, 2003 10:37 amGood googly goo. Every once in a while you get some good news.
I'm working on a BRUTAL freelance editing project that's driving me insane. It's a whole shitload of med school policies and procedures on how to comply with federal regulations concerning protection and disclosure of confidential health information. (See? I TOLD you it was brutal.) So I had about a hundred pages of stuff that I needed to get through by this morning. I got through about fifty on Monday night, so I had about fifty more to do last night. (This is known as "subtraction"--addition's tricky pal.) But I also had proofreading to do for the magazine, plus I had Madden 2003 playoffs to play. (I almost never play computer games until I'm supposed to be doing something else. Almost every time I play Unreal Tournament it reminds me of when I was supposed to be writing papers in grad school.) So anyway, I didn't do shit last night.
(Oh jebus, guess what I did do: I watched American Idol. I'd never seen it before. It was kind of a kick watching all the freaks, but I still hope that's the last episode I watch. I'm pretty ashamed of myself; until last night I'd never seen American Idol, Big Brother, The Mole, Survivor, Survivor: Thailand, Survivor: West Virginia, or any of the rest of those shows, and now I've broken my record.)
ANYWAY, I was scrambling to get the magazine proofreading done by my 9 a.m. deadline this morning, so I never got to any of the med school stuff. So I was sweating a phone call from the guy I'm doing it for wanting to know where the other fifty pages were, but instead I got an email saying that the first fifty pages I sent him were a great start, but that I should hold off on doing any more because he needed to make some changes to the rest of the stuff before it's ready for editing.
So yeah--a brief reprieve. Now I can turn my full attention to these piles of work on my desk that I'm too gutless to pitch in the trash without looking at.
