When I stepped out of my building this morning there were reverse footprints on the sidewalk. It snowed last night, but instead of there being shoe-shaped indentations on a snow-covered sidewalk, there were shoe-shaped areas of snow on an otherwise bare sidewalk. Does that make sense? Yeah, I didn't think so. It didn't to me either.

I know what you mean. Sometimes that happens when the snow sticks to a person's shoes.

The shoe compresses the snow, therefore less susceptible to melting than the rest?

Yeah, that makes sense too. I think that's probably what happened, as it was more solid snow than faint marks.

They're all wrong. You're living next door to the Abominable Snowman. It happens. Relax.
