Fuck, I must have left my car unlocked last night. Someone swiped the few CDs I had in there--which really sucks because that included most if not all of my fIREHOSE stuff. And it REALLY sucks because two of those are out of print and pretty rare. I think I found a replacement for one of them on the web, and the actual disc for the second one was in the player, so they just got the jewel case. So I'm wounded, but not mortally. I've gotta quit keeping stuff in the car. There wasn't all that much in there, but there was a lot of junk that probably made it look as though there might be. Oh well, at least they didn't bust my window like they did last winter.

Oh, and one good thing did come of this: in searching for the titles of the discs, I found this page, which has a bunch of Minutemen and Watt shows in SHN format! Even some Minutemen video!

Cripes, I think they got my Jesus Lizard Show disc too. Dick boys.

Truly. It was only 8-10 discs or so, but still. I wish I knew where they were gonna sell them.

You should make a list of CD's that were taken. Then if anyone on your friends list has copies they can burn them for you. There also used to be an LJ wish list somewhere around here, you could post on there for the really rare one's and then people can send them to you that way. Just an idea. I'd be happy to help if I can!

Thanks--I might take you up on Show. The other one is one of the ones I left at home. Lemme see what I can find in the used sections, though--I'll let ya know. :)

yeah, I could send you a copy of Show as well, plus I have some other stuff I think you might like: Mastodon (think thrash metal meets southern rock with a jazz drummer on amphetamines and somewhat slayer-esque vocals) and the new Tomahawk record which is pretty good (Mike Patton screaming a lot about cumming in peoples ears and raping days of the week, with the guitarist from the jesus lizard, bassist from the melvins, and drummer from helmet)

Holy shit--that would be awesome. That sounds like some shit I gotta hear. If you'd send me those, I can let you pick out some stuff from my CD list, which I'm gonna update this weekend. Thanks dude!

You bet, just email me your address (again, I know) and I'll send a package that-a-way sometime in the next week or two.

What is shn?

It's a compression format--sort of like mp3, but lossless. When you make mp3s from a CD, you lose some of the quality (and it can't be recovered). But with SHN (for Shorten), you can compress and decompress and still end up with an exact copy. A lot of music collectors use it for online trading. Oh wow! Thanks for the link I've been looking for the Big Bottom spiel CD ever since I passed it up in the used bins some 7 years ago and Corndogs.com had it for download! Sorry to hear about the CD heist, same thing happened to me in Long Beach so I know the hell of having to replace. What fIREHOSE CDs did they get away with?

No problem--I knew someone would appreciate the link! I was pretty glad to find Big Bottom Pow-Wow too, 'cuz that's one of the discs they got. I was able to find it at an online used store for $6, though. They also stole Flyin' the Flannel (my favorite) and fROMOHIO. Oh yeah, and the case for the Live Totem Pole EP--which really bites, because I love that cover art, and it's out of print!

Hmmm..come to think of it I believe that my copy of Flying was ripped-off in LB. It's not here with me. Damn. I do have fROMOHIO (my favorite) and the Totem Pole EP if ya need copies of em' though.
