Weird. We actually had a good department meeting this morning. Not that they're usually BAD--but this one was exceptionally good. There's a new person who's going to be the new design/production/manuscript editorial honcho. This is a little weird because design/production has always been separate from ms ed. (though we work closely together). And they'll still be separate, but this person is going to help up streamline our processes and make things a lot easier. I know "streamline our processes" sounds like some sort of managementspeak that really means "institute a whole lot of bullshit that no one wants or needs," but she really seems sharp and everyone has a good outlook on it. So I think it'll be good. I know both departments have been running way too hard lately, so anything that can help address that will be a good thing.
