I'm in a terrible habit of sitting on my foot. Instead of letting both legs hang down from a chair like a normal person, I bring my left leg underneath me and sit on it, so that every time I get up to walk to the printer or wherever, my foot's all red and I limp because the lower part of my leg is asleep.

I hope this doesn't mean I'm gay or anything. Not that there's anything wrong with that--it would just be majorly confusing to find out now.

I've always sat funny. For most of my life when I had to sit on the floor I would sort of sit on my ass and let my lower legs go out to the side. People always thought it was the funniest thing--had never seen anyone sit like that, blah blah blah. I'm not as limber as I used to be, however, so it's not as easy as it used to be.

But one thing I cannot do is sit Indian-style. (Can you still say that?) I can do it for about a second and a half, but that's it. After that my ass starts to hurt too much. And I dunno, it's just not comfortable at all.

Damn, though, look at this. It does look pretty painful, huh? It sort of looks like I've dropped straight out of an airplane and tried to land on my feet and they just got fucked all up. But it was comfortable to me.

I wouldn't have made this post, but people kept hounding me for ruminations on my sitting habits. I'm all about giving the public what they want.

no, no. It's not "Indian Style" anymore. Daycares now use "Criss, cross, applesauce." Make sure you say it in a singsong tone.

I sit weird too, always have, got it from my pops =)

P.s. as funny as the position you're sitting in is, what's even funnier is that you're watching a tv set that's off.

there is a new way to say it...but im not sure what it is...the funny part about it to me has always been: why is it even considered indian style?...i mean how the hell did cavemen and any other older cultures sit when around their fires or whatever?...even now isn't it just a natural way to sit?...im not sure how it became something that "indians" do...but i think it's pretty interesting how things like that permeate our images of certain groups...

When my sister was little, she sat *exactly* like that. I'll have to find a picture. I sat/sit weird on the floor too - both my legs go over to the right. I've never been able to sit with either of my feet under me, and I can't sit with both my legs going to the left. I can't sit criss-cross, either.

Word. You bring up the most interesting topics in your journal... chucking tennis balls, salt on watermelons, now this. Rawk!

You almost look double-jointed in that pic. Hee. I had trouble sitting cross-legged as a kid, too. After about 20 minutes, I was in too much pain to continue.

My mother tells me that when I was little I used to sit in front of the TV and try to put my leg behind my head...and managed to do it most of the time.

Now THATS weird.

Dude - I sat like that as a kid and I still do now. It's not weird.

However, what is weird is the fact that you are watching nothing on television.

All right, smart-ass, lemme see YOU take a picture of an old TV with a freakin' Instamatic WITH the flash and have the image on the screen show up! It ain't easy to do. =)

Out of morbid curiosity and boredom, I tried to sit like you are in the picture and um..it hurts *whimper*

You look like you were waiting to be sucked into the tv vortex! "come into the light..."

I've been saying that a lot lately. I believe it was an ongoing skit on Seinfeld. It was Seinfeld right? Think it was. Anywho... good luck with the foot. Happens to me a lot too. The worse is when you sleep on your arm all night. I've seriously woken up one morning and felt as if I only had one arm. Kind of creepy and hella painful when it starts waking up.

Yeah, they were badass! And how 'bout the PANELING, huh? Pretty stylish, eh? :) I wonder whose house that was--must have been my aunt and uncle's or something.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED the KA-CLUNK! sound of changing the tv channels. Kids today with their remotes, sitting on their asses on the couch have no idea the about the fun of sitting on the floor by the tv flipping channels for the parents after dinner.

Heh. Nice panelling indeed! Do you remember the other big style of paneling? The WHITE ones?

For real? Maybe I should bring that up at the next department meeting at work. "You guys, let's all sit around on the floor criss, cross, applesauce, okay?"

The bad thing is that no one would find it out of character. =)

Right, it started in the episode when they were being interviewed by a student journalist who thought George and Jerry were gay. And they vehemently denied it, "not that there's anything wrong with that." :)

I do the arm thing all the time. Sometimes I wake up and think, "Cripes, I think I KILLED it!"

We had one of those big ass ones that didn't have any legs (feet? don't know what the right terminology is) anyhow. It was just this gigantic box. We had it up to six or seven years ago. We weren't using it. In fact we hadn't used that t.v. the last few years we had it. We just put our new one right on top! So there it stood in our living room as a freagin t.v. stand.
