Finally I've captured and converted Crispin Glover's infamous kicking appearance on Late Night with David Letterman. Here it is in Windows Media format. Let me know if you have trouble getting it to work.

Oh Gawd! How did you find that?? I've never seen it and I hadn't heard of it either, although I totally love CG. What a riot!!!!

Dave just didn't know what to make of that.

I saw it when it first aired in 1987 or whatever, and since then I've been on a quest to find a recording of it. I actually taped it when it came on in reruns once, but my friend moved to New Orleans with the tape! So for the last ten years or so I haven't had a copy. But a month or so ago I found someone in the Crispin Glover LJ community who had a copy of it, so I traded her a copy of a movie for it. My life is complete!!!

OHMYDOG!!! FLEAAAAA!

This is so great! I saw it when it first aired too and it has been a source of humor/terror for me and a friend for years! She is gonna FREAK when I send her this link!!!

YOU RULEEE!!!

Heh! That so reminds me of how Andy Kaufman used to wax Dave, using his show for his own agenda. Go Crispin! :-D

Yeah, the Andy Kaufman/Jerry Lawler thing is another favorite of mine. =)

I have to see that sometime! I just read Lawler's book!

How was that book? I can't get with today's wrestling, but I used to see The King wrestling on Memphis television way back in the '70s and early '80s. Classic stuff!

Cool! I think you'd like the book then. A bunch of it is all about the old days in Memphis and what it was like. There is also and entire chapter about BBQ. Drove me (happily) nuts! I made the Mr. go out and buy some BBQ ribs and I tore into them so fast that sauce splattered on the wall behind my head! Hahaha...and it was only boring NW grocery store bought stuff! What would happen if I had the REAL stuff?! WOW. ;)

Very funny. Thanks. :)

1. You have a fabulous icon!

2. There is so much more to Crispin Glover than Back to the Future. Your really must look into him. He's a subculture icon of his own!

Thanks! If you want, I have a bunch of "Calvin Icons" in my photos on my info page. Feel free to help yourself. :)
I have to look into Crispin Glover - I thought that clip was hysterical - brought back Andy Kauffman on Dave.

I think that was a wig, but he has grown his hair about that long at times. Yeah, he is definitely "off," but he was doing a character. :)

YESSS!!! I can't play it since my computer stinks (geek husband put Linux all over it). He was promoting Ruben and Ed, yes? And got kind a manic? And almost kicked Dave straight in the face?

I love Crispin. I used to have that ridiculous album of his, and even *hangs head in shame* looked up his address on Lexus/Nexus property appraisal database and sent him a letter (he never replied to). *pathetic*

I still listen to his album! I actually LIKE it!!! I'm surprised he didn't reply to your letter. I've heard that people who order books and stuff from Volcanic Eruptions often get handwritten notes from his mother!

And you should try right-clicking on the link to the video and saving it to your hard drive, then opening it in Xine or something. I was able to play it in Mandrake 9.1 w/ Xine. (I'm no guru, but I play around in Linux sometimes.) :) I didn't want to use Windows Media format, but it's the only one I could get to work.

I remember seeing that in either h.s. or college. "And I can kick, too!" I wasn't sure if he was really trying to hit Dave or whether Dave was just playing along.

I think if he wanted to kick dave, he would have. I just don't think Dave got it. That's just my take on it.

Secretly, I have often thought that he (Crispin Glover)had a livejournal. Wouldn't that be great?

I'm pretty sure Dave had no idea what was going on, but I don't think Crispin meant to kick him, either. :)
