return of the living dead
Jan. 20th, 2004 01:18 pmWhoa, whaddya know--I actually have something to report! The wonderful
goreygalx and I just had a fantastic weekend together. The main thing on our agenda was seeing Rent at the Shubert. We were both pretty blown away. A lot of times I'm reluctant to go see musicals because . . . I dunno, a lot of them are cheesy. But I've always heard such good things about this one that I was pretty excited to see it, and it didn't disappoint. Good stuff--the kind of thing that makes you remember why you go to live theatre.
So that was the biggest thing we did, but the rest of the weekend was a lot of fun too. Friday night I subjected
goreygalx to the heart-wrenching wonder that is Fubar. She, of course, appreciated the movie for the masterpiece that it is and laughed uproariously. Besides that, we did some shopping for books and DVDs, ate some kick-ass pizza, ogled some pr0n at the Penthouse Boutique, and even watched the Patriots game.
The only bad part of the weekend came on Sunday night, when we were heading back to Mass. The interstate wasn't in terrible shape despite the storm, but the 120-mile trip still took almost five hours because of a HUMONGOUS traffic jam near the CT/RI border. After inching along for about two hours and moving perhaps two miles, we had to get off the freaking interstate and detour through Westerly, RI (I think it was). It's a miracle we ever found our way back to the interstate, but we did. The trip back to New Haven was uneventful, thank dog.
I got home at about 3 a.m. Sunday night and somehow didn't make it to sleep until 7, so I spent most of the day sleeping yesterday. It felt wonderful. And I was still able to get to sleep last night and get a full night's rest! I must have been wiped out.
Strange happening of the weekend: we couldn't get away from Queen. Every time we turned on the radio we heard Mr. Mercury and the boys. Oh yeah, and we had been talking about Helloween at some length on Friday night, and sure enough, Saturday night we saw their video for "Halloween" on VH-1. I wouldn't have thought I'd EVER see that video again.
I can't believe I forgot to post this picture last week. It's my Christmas gift from
dorkontheloose! How freaking cool is that? She finds the coolest shit. The gift, by the way, was inspired by my nutty Halloween get-up. (Yes, I'm aware that picture is scary as fuck.) Oooooh, Halloween! Spooky.
