OK, to use the vernacular of the region, I'm all set to start my thousand-mile (give or take) trek to Tennessee (and eventually 300 miles more to MS). I'm packed, everything's in pretty good shape here at work, and I even got my car battery jumped off yesterday, so I'm good to go. Now if I can just figure out how to get the fuck out of here without making an appearance at the Christmas party, I'll be on like a pot of neckbones. I hate having to make an appearance; I'd rather not show up at all than stick my head in and say, "OK, kiss my ass -- gotta go." I really do need to get out of here as soon as possible, though. I'm going to go around NYC as much as possible, but I'm sure the traffic is still going to be fucking crazy.

Wish me luck as I return to my beloved homeland of barbecue, collard greens, and Waffle Houses!
