Fifty-two degrees feels pretty good on March 1 in New England. I'd like to fling off all my clothes and run around outside with my wangdoodle flappin' in the cool, cool breeze. But it tends to make people around here a little nervous. Goddamn Puritans.

On the advice of [livejournal.com profile] dangerpest, I'd like to solicit suggestions for movies to add to my Netflix queue. Gimme some funky shit, people. What movies do I need to see? I've already seen Julien Donkey-Boy, so what else is there?

Mary just said that she and her family used to call her father's gold Cadillac "The Golden Pimpmobile." Coming from a woman who didn't know why I laughed when she mentioned growing grass in her windowbox, this was pretty funny.

Fuck. I actually rented Withnail and I and for some reason never watched it. I have a bad habit of that. I'll add it again.

Orgazmo
Rio Bravo
Female Trouble
Double Indemnity

Hmm. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm really really fond of the third Exorcist movie, too, but it doesn't seem very seasonal.

Well, I feel like I could use an exorcism these days, so actually it fits pretty well. :)

Female Trouble! Yeah. Good call. I think Pink Flamingos is the only old-school Waters I've seen, so I need to catch up.

Definitely Orgazmo.

Wangdoodle. Heh. I'll have to remember that when we meet.

Any of the Vincent Price movies based on Poe stories
Roger Corman directed a pseudo-tribute to The Raven. Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre and even Jack Nicholson are in it.
The Abominable Dr. Phibes
Edward Scissorhands
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me
Bedazzled (The original, not the Elizabeth Hurley crapfest)
Brazil
Monty Python (Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, etc.)
Tank Girl
They Live (natch)
Pink Flamingos (hide the kids for this one)
Superfly
Dirty Harry
Night of the Ghouls
Night of the Living Dead
Evil Dead
Sisters (early '70s horror with Margot Kidder playing conjoined twins later separated)
Dawn of the Dead
early to mid '80s Cronenberg (Scanners, Videodrome) - more recently Crash
Krush Groove

Whoa, thanks!!! Lots of stuff I've heard of but still need to see, and some I haven't heard of at all! That Corman thing sounds wild. :)

OK its called Marquis. Its the story of the Marquis De Sade while he was imprisoned--except its told via puppets---farm animal puppets---including the Marquis' talking penis puppet. And it doesn't have boobs---it has udders. Sick twisted movie---I positively love it!!

http://imdb.com/title/tt0097839/

Also see "Even dwarves Started Small" by Herzog. The guy who wrote and directed Julien Donkey Boy was influenced heavily by Herzog's quirkiness (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065436/). If you can get the new DVD re-issue it has special commentary by Crispin Glover.

Thanks so much!! I've heard about Even Dwarves Started Small, but I had no idea that Crispin had done a commentary for it. That seals it--I'm fuckin' getting it. :)

And Marquis too. That sounds like something that would be great to have on hand when company comes over. "Wanna watch a movie? I have just the thing..."

YOU have a wangdoodle?

Is his name Wee Willy Winkie, or am I getting yours confused with [livejournal.com profile] dangerpest?

I like to call mine The Messiah. ;)
