I had this long post about it being Freak Day here at work, and I meant to come back to it to finish. Then I rebooted my computer for no good reason. Lost post. *snarl*

Anyway, it's Freak Day and all that kind of shit. It has actually been a really good week at work. Things are going smoothly, and I've been able to stay on top of everything. There has just been a weird air about today. For instance, it's not every day I have cause to tell everyone about Crispin Glover's collection of diseased eyeball models.

Slayer just keeps coming up; everywhere I look these days, there's a Slayer reference. For instance, while walking around on my lunch break, I saw no less than three Slayer stickers adorning light poles and trash receptacles. In fact, I snagged one from a light pole, and it now graces my computer monitor. I guess it has something to do with the Slayer show at Toad's place next week. I can't wait. I checked slayer.net and found out that original drummer Dave Lombardo is playing this tour. I don't think he's been with them for almost ten years. This guy is so fucking awesome. He's like the John Bonham of speed metal. And the New Haven show will be the first of the tour, so -- well, I don't know; it's just kinda cool. Next Thursday, dude. Oooh, [livejournal.com profile] dangerpest, they're going to be at Lupo's the following Saturday. Go on out and get you some culture, boy. Take the lovely lady and have yourselves a good ol' time.

Extra-special news flash for the uninformed: Slayer is not a "hair band."

OK, you can be excused for that... somebody needs to take them bastards out. ;)

No, but they're on my list of stuff I need to check out. That's the one with Lombardo and Mike Patton, right?

That's them. They have a new album called "Director's Cut". It includes the themes from The Godfather, The Omen, Rosemary's Baby, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, and a bunch more. Check it out:

Eeeevil!

Oh, nice! I gotta get that. What I can't figure out is why I haven't checked them out before. I think I heard about them before their first album came out, but somehow forgot about them!

It's a safe bet...anything with Patton is either really fucking good or really fucking scary!! That new Fantomas record is both!

I checked and they are coming here on feb 7th, but quite frankly, I'm terrified to go by myself. If only I had some of my old black/death metal posse from MS here to accompany me, it would be impossible to tear me away. I'm still trying to talk myself into it though, so post an indepth review telling everyone how awesome they were. They are my favorite hair band after all.

Will do! I know what you mean about being scared to go by yourself. The last time I saw them was about -- fuck -- ten years ago (!), and it was at an arena (the Omni in Atlanta). Security had that place locked down tighter than a drum, but I don't imagine that they'll really be able to do that in a club. Plus, I haven't really been to one of these kinds of shows -- the kind where people try to kill each other -- in a long time, so I'm kind of out of shape as far as doing the simultaneous headbanging/slamming/defending-myself-against-attackers thing. I'll let you how it goes.

Slayer is everywhere!

I keep running into Kerry King at TGI Fridays! You would expect him to be chillin' in some hole-in-the-wall biker bar picking fights and rocking hard instead of having beers at TGIF in Anaheim!?

Oh, shit, Friday's?! That's too funny. At least he's drinking beer -- I was afraid you were going to say he was having Shirley Temples or strawberry dacquiris or something. ;)
