Hey [livejournal.com profile] buscemi (or anyone else who might know), do you remember a Peanuts character ever dying? Someone sent me this e-mail, and I think she and her dad are probably on goofballs or mixing up Peanuts with Marmaduke or Wizard of Id or some shit.

subject: peanuts related question

Ok, I read you rpage, and I have a bizarre question. Was there a story line that was based on a death of someone close to Charles Schultz? We are trying to figure this out, my dad seems to remember a very sad story when he was growing up, and can't remember alot about it. Thanks for your time.

I think Charlie Brown went to visit a girl in the hospital once. I don't know the rest of the story.

Yeah, it was "Snoopy Come Home!" I still have the movie on VHS. But Lila didn't die...I think she actually recovered and left the hospital at the end and she wanted to take Snoopy with her, but he wanted to go back to Charlie Brown. Sniff.

What about the christmas special where Snoopy gets rabies and bites peppermint pattie's little sister? doesn't she die from a poorly administered tetnus shot? I thought Schultz handled the issue of euthanizing a pet with an abundance of tact.

i have a feeling it might be his mother's death from colon cancer, as mentioned here (http://www.schulzmuseum.org/schulzbio.html), which probably prompted him to do this (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0345455312/102-4615163-6140149?v=glance).

then there's:
