So I went and saw Fishbone tonight. They were really, really good, as I figured they would be, but it was kind of surreal. It's strange seeing bands that you've been listening to for 15 years but sort of lost touch with. You drive two miles from your apartment, and there you are front and center, and Angelo Moore's blowing sax in your face.

Oh, and one of the opening bands was a white funk group called Pencilgrass that played a cover of Fugazi's "Waiting Room." Yep.

I saw Fishbone at Axis in Boston at a secret show they did after their spot at Lollapolooza. I went to Axis all the time and just sort of walked in on it. About 200 people. Sweet...

Nice! I wish I'd seen them back then. The band I saw last night was several members removed from the classic lineup, but they were still a great band and a heckuva lot of fun.
